4 issues in zoning with high priority
The Highlands Hillside Rezone Proposal
A developer is asking to change the zoning on roughly 208 acres near 1150 East 3700 North to HP-2 to build a 50-lot residential subdivision. Neighbors raised concerns about hillside stability, stormwater drainage, and aquifer recharge, prompting the council to delay a vote so everyone can review a new geotechnical report.
Zoning Change at 1700 N. Washington Blvd
The city is considering changing the zoning of a local property from industrial to commercial. This could change what kind of businesses can open in that spot, which might affect traffic and the look of the neighborhood.
Residential Code Enforcement and Property Maintenance
A resident raised concerns about being cited by code enforcement for running an ongoing yard sale and keeping a tent up. Police explained that excessive stored items and structures violate city codes.
Land Use Appeal Authority
The city is hiring a hearing officer to ensure that land use and development disputes are settled fairly and legally. This role helps protect property rights and ensures the city follows state law when making decisions.
